Trump nominates Homendy to serve on NTSB

President Donald Trump this week announced his intention to nominate Jennifer Homendy of Virginia to serve on the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB).

Homendy is being nominated to serve the remainder of a five-year term on the board.

She currently serves as Democratic staff director of the House Subcommittee on Railroads, Pipelines and Hazardous Materials — a position she’s held since 2004, according to a White House press release.

In her work for the subcommittee, Homendy advises members of Congress on legislation involving railroads, the safety of oil and natural gas pipelines, and the transportation of hazardous materials. She is certified by the International Association of Fire Fighters on Core HazMat Operations and Missions-Specific PPE and Product Control.

From 1999 to 2004, Homendy was a legislative representative for the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. Prior to that, she worked for the Transportation Trades Department, AFL-CIO, the American Iron and Steel Institute, and the National Federation of Independent Business.
